While there are a number of books I'm dying to read, I'm most looking forward to A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin (July 12th, fiction), Vertigo: The Living Dead Man Poems by Marvin Bell (July 1st, poetry), and In My Time by Dick Cheney (August 30th, memoir). That last one should be pretty interesting.
In music (in which I have really eclectic taste), I'm pretty excited for Alpocalypse by "Weird Al" Yankovic (June 21st). Why? Because it's his first studio release in five years and the album contains a track called "Polka Face." Done and done.
Finally, in movies, I am super amped for the Green Lantern film this week (June 17th)! I've been waiting for this movie since I was about six, folks. If it disappoints me, I may never recover.
What about you, cats & kittens? What are you looking forward to in books, music, movies, and more over the next three months?
I have several books on my Kindle that I want to read this summer, among them: ALL THE PRETTY HORSES, ULYSSES, and THE SECRET GARDEN (pretty eclectic mix, eh)?
ReplyDeleteI'm also amped for THE GREEN LANTERN and CAPTAIN AMERICA, both look promising.
I took my kids to see KUNG FU PANDA II last Friday, and was very impressed. They had a good story, not just a re-hash of every gag from the first movie. Sometimes sequels do that, you know.
Music-wise I'm looking forward to nice weather so I can sit on the front porch with my guitar.
For Books,
ReplyDeleteConspiracies by Mercedes Lackey (July 5)
Supernaturally by Kiersten White (July 26)
and, a bit further out but much anticipated, Witch Eyes by Scott Tracey (Sept 8)
For Music,
The Decemberists are coming through my area in August!
For Movies,
Green Lantern, Deathly Hallows Part 2, Captain America, and Fright Night!
A Dance With Dragons is my number one for the summer. Though Jim Butcher's Ghost Story runs a close second.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about The Green Lantern and Captain America, too. Thor was fun, but the other two should be spectacular. I'm looking forward to the final Harry Potter flick as well.
I'm anxiously awaiting my turn to borrow the public library's copy of The Cars first new album since 1988. And the new Buddy Holly tribute album, called RAVE ON, featuring Paul McCartney doing several Holly cover songs, is way up on my WANT list, too.
ReplyDeleteFor books, I'm eager to read Maureen Johnson's The Name Of The Star, but it's not out until Sept.
Movie #7 eased the pain I still feel from movie #6 AND the 7th book. As such, I will go see the final Harry Potter movie.
ReplyDeleteOk, I'm going with "Weird Al" right now. But I know there are many, one in my very own home, who will be reading George's new book and hopping over the the theatre on the 17th!
ReplyDeleteI'll ditto most of Christine Rains said: George R. R. Martin and Jim Butcher's new books are what I'm drooling for, and I'll be breaking out my Ravenclaw scarf soon!
ReplyDeleteThe Last Werewolf
ReplyDeleteThe Two Deaths of Daniel Hayes
Turn of Mind
And the Decemberists were great in Bend!
